LDM Product Roundup: Volume 22 No 3

A range of UltraHD products has been added to Crestron‘s DM 3.0 lineup. These include the DM-RMC-4K-SCALER-C (a 60Hz scaler); HDBaseT input (DMC-4K-C/DMC-4K-C-DSP) and HDMI output (DMC-4K-HDO) cards; plenium (DM-CBL-ULTRA-P) and non-plenium (DM-CBL-ULTRA-NP) type CMR HDBaseT cables; and 1×2 (HD-DA2-4K-E), 1×4 (HD-DA4-4K-E) and 1×8 (HD-DA8-4K-E) HDMI distribution amplifiers.

MSI‘s 15.6″ GE62 laptop takes on industrial design elements from last year’s GT72. Compared to previous GE models, the display section and cover of the laptop are now thicker and the hinges have been retooled to improve build quality. Dual cooling fans have also been installed. Internals have not been confirmed yet, but a version seen by Anandtech uses a Core i7 Haswell processor and – well done, MSI! – an IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution. An upcoming GE-series model, the GE72, will be a step up, with a larger screen and chassis.

Philips has taken a leaf out of Seiki’s book (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 3) in releasing an HDMI cable with UltraHD upscaling. The SWV9401W features a Marseille chip that is able to convert SD and HD signals to UltraHD. The cable is certified by Technicolor and will be sold for €85 ex VAT.
