The top 100 pay-TV providers worldwide increased their subscriber base by 0.95% YoY in Q3’15, according to Informitv’s Multiscreen Index. They accounted for around 380 million subscribers, adding 3.74 million customers in the quarter. 59 of the 100 reported net gains in Q3.
In the USA, the top 10 providers reported a combined fall of 128,400 subscribers from Q2, or 0.15% of their base. There was a small gain of 190,000 across North, Central and South America, although a net loss of 49,000 among the top 10 services, which have 114.11 million customers between them.
Service providers in EMEA added 1.51 million subscribers, with a net gain of 354,000 among the top 10. Services in the UK added 172,000.
The greatest gains were made in APAC, with more than 2 million new homes joining pay-TV services. These were led by increases in India, which was responsible for 1.27 million additions.
