Almost 27% of Spanish homes subscribed to a pay TV service at the end of 2015, said regulator CNMC. This is up from 21.2% at end-2014. However, 70.8% of viewers said that they were not interested in paying for more channels and are satisfied with existing free-to-air options. 30.1% said that cost was an issue; 34.6% said that they do not watch much TV; 7.5% did not find pay TV a compelling offer; and 8.2% said that they get content online. More than 25% of homes now own a connected smart TV.
