Panasonic Develops UHD Surgical Monitor

To meet growing demand from the medical community, Panasonic has introduced a 31.5″ UltraHD display called the EJ-ML432Z. These products are particularly needed in areas such as laparoscopic, arthroscopic and microscopic surgery, where Full HD displays do not provide sufficient resolution.

The design has a flat front face, with a protection level equivalent to IPX5, and a vent-less rear. The back of the product is slanted to enable easy removal of dust. Panasonic has also used a compact design for the unit (766 x 475 x 69mm), making it simpler to install in an OR.

Panasonic says that the monitor uses the Adobe RGB colour space, but does not provide a coverage specification. The monitor is also able to zoom in on content; the magnified region can be positioned anywhere on the screen.

The EJ-ML432Z uses an IPS panel with 176° viewing angles and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Brightness is 350 cd/m². DisplayPort, DVI-D and SDI (x4) inputs are featured. All of these, bar DisplayPort, can also act as outputs.

The display is on sale now, for $12,500.
