TV customers of Dutch cable operator Ziggo rose 5,000 in Q3, to 2.3 million, representing 87.1% penetration. However, the number of TV-only subscribers fell by 20.2% YoY, to 634,000.

Google’s Nexus Player (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 41) Android TV product went on sale earlier this month, but has since been removed from the online store. Google said that the device has not yet been approved by the FCC, although this is expected ‘imminently’.
60% of pay-TV subscribers in Latin America will be taking HD services by 2018, according to Dataxis. HD subscribers in the region stood at 13.9 million in Q1’14. Brazil is currently the largest LATAM market for HD, representing 63.5% of the total. Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru followed, in that order.
114,000 new FiOS video customers joined Verizon in Q3’14, boosting the company’s total video subscribers to 5.5 million: a 7% YoY increase. Penetration was 35.5%, compared to 34.9% last year.
