German public broadcaster WDR will begin test broadcasts using DVB-T2, with HEVC, in the Cologne-Bonn area next August. The trial will be conducted with Media Broadcast, which is currently testing DVB-T2 with HEVC in Berlin (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 40).
UK retail chain Co-Operative Electrical is now selling extended warranties on its products – including TVs – at cost; this means that the retailer is making no profit on sales. The offer is currently only available for online purchases, but this could change next year.
