JCDecaux SA has released its quarterly trading update for Q3. The company’s turnover in the quarter rose 6% year on year to €669.3 million from €631.6 million in the third quarter of last year. For the nine month period, the company’s revenue was 4.2% higher at €1.9 billion from €1.8 billion.
JCDecaux’s massive (120m²) Waterloo Motion digital billboard, in London, has won DailyDOOH’s Best Original Digital Billboard award for 2014. The company also took second and third place, with the Trafford Arch and Heathrow GrandView locations.
A US startup called Keyssa has developed its own solution to transfer data wirelessly. The solution is based around a new chip using high-frequency (60GHz) radiowaves to transfer data quickly between devices that are physically touching (‘Kiss Connectivity’). Henrik Köhler has been named as the new managing director of TP Vision for Germany, Austria and Switzerland from 1st January 2015. Köhler worked for Philips DACH for 20 years until 2013, as managing director and head of sales for consumer electronics.
The Korean government will put more than double the money towards OLEDs and flexible displays in 2015 than it did this year. The Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology has announced a KRW12.5 billion ($11.2 million) budget for display R&D. India’s KSS has entered the high resolution space with a Sony deal. KSS aims to install 3,000 DCI-4k cinema screens over the next 2-3 years. Over the next 18 months, it will invest INR1.5 billion ($24.4 million) in the purchase of 270 projectors.

News of a new Samsung phone, the Galaxy A7, has been leaked after being approved by China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre.
