Chip Sales Outperform Predictions in Q3

Worldwide semiconductor sales reached $87 billion in Q3’14, a 5.7% QoQ and 8% YoY increase, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Christie Brings Mongolian Hero to Life

Christie and Chinese partner Wincom Technologies have assisted with the installation of a 360 deg visual display in the Jangar Culture & Arts Palace. Using eight of Christie’s DS+6K-M 3DLP projectors and the Christie Twist software, the display measures 12m x 4m. It tells the story of Jangar, a Mongolian folk hero.

Christie’s StIM WQ DLP projectors and FHD461-X LCD displays have been chosen to power the visual displays for the Air National Guard’s Boom Operator Simulation System (BOSS) in the USA. Corning is to expand the focus of its technology development programmes at its Technology Centre in Asan, Korea. ‘Next-generation’ glass and ceramic solutions for applications in consumer electronics and other industries will be developed. Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) reported a 13.7% increase in revenue in October from the previous month at NT$4.9 billion ($160.2 million), though this was 2.5% down on October 2013.
