Panasonic Corporation saw Q1 net profits of ¥59.5 billion ($479 million), up from ¥37.9 billion ($305 million) in the year-ago quarter, on revenue which rose to ¥1.86 trillion ($14.94 billion) from ¥1.85 trillion ($14.89 billion). The company said that it was changing its focus away from sales growth towards generating profit.
Hitachi saw Q1 net profits of ¥95.0 billion ($763 million), up 35% from ¥70.5 billion ($566 million) last time, on revenue which rose 7% to ¥2.3 trillion ($18.6 billion) from ¥2.2 trillion ($17.4 billion). The company said that this was in line with expectations.
Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) recorded a 58% drop in Q1 net profits to ¥19.9 billion ($159 million) from ¥47.4 billion ($379 million) on revenue which rose 6% to ¥260.9 billion ($2.1 billion) from ¥246.3 billion ($2.0 billion). The company blamed the drop in profit on the printing solutions division.
Asahi Glass Co.
