Asustek Prepares Second Watch for Q3
Asus’ Nick Wu has told the Taipei Times that the company will launch its second-generation Zenwatch this quarter. Wu said that “a few hundred thousand” have been sold since the watch was launched in December, with a similar take-up of the Vivowatch launched in May.
T2 and HEVC Trial Begins in Germany
Media Broadcast and public service broadcaster WDR, in Germany, has begun a trial using the DVB-T2 platform and HEVC codec, in Bonn and Cologne. An official launch of these services is expected in June next year.

DirecTV has launched an UltraHD set-top box. The 4k Genie Mini can be used to access DirecTV’s UHD content library, including films and documentaries. Compatible TVs must feature an HDMI connection capable of supporting UHD content at 60fps.
