Digiturk has launched a new Ultra HD/4k channel, called Digiturk UHD, on the Eutelsat 7B satellite, home to Digiturk’s pay-TV platform. The new channel can be received free-to-air on Eutelsat 7B at 7 degrees East, on a frequency of 10,762 GHz, pol. H, SR 30000, FEC 5/6, using DVB-S2/QPSK.
Apple has hired Doug Bowman, a VR researcher who recently went on sabbatical from his post as computer science professor at Virginia Tech. RP Visual Solutions and Christie have created a curved array measuring 20 feet (6m) tall, 220 feet (66m) wide and comprising 1,640 2.5-millimeter Christie Velvet LED tiles (more than 65 million pixels). The installation is said to be “the world’s largest LED Video wall” and is at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino.
French company Dreamvision (11.C85) has announced a new series of projectors with higher brightness, UltraHD resolution and HDR capabilities. Korean Telecom(KT), the nation’s largest IPTV operator, has chosen Ericsson’s AVP 400 MPEG-4 HD system encoders to enable 20 new HD channels over the next three years. Korean Telecom chose Ericsson’s equipment because of superior picture quality and lower transmission delay in it’s delivery. Ericsson’s equipment will reduce KT’s encoding delay to 700 ms.
Activeon of South Korea has announced four new LCD TVs that will be sold under the RCA brand, which it acquired in 2010, in the USA. Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 Group has said that it will broadcast six channels in 1920 x 1080 at 50fps on the DVB-T2 platform. T2 programming will be launched in Germany in Q2’16, with a country-wide launch in Q1’17.
