We have reported several times about the OSVR and its open source virtual reality platform. The latest news form the OSVR is a new ‘Hacker Development Kit’, the HDK 2. This new platform includes two displays with 2160 x 1200 resolution. They are using OLED displays with a switching speed of 90Hz and custom designed lenses in this new kit.

These upgrades should provide the users with a visual experience similar to the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. The table shows how the HDK 2 stacks up against the current leaders in the VR world.
