Optoma in the US has launched the GT5500 (shown at Infocomm), a FullHD UST projector based on a single 0.65” DarkChip 3 DLP chip. Output is 3,500 Ansi lumens and the unit is claimed to have 25,000:1 contrast ratio. The 0.25:1 throw ratio in the fixed lens means that a 100″ image can be displayed from 13″ (33cms) and the unit is designed to create images from 80″ to 100″. There are dual HDMI (1.4a) and dual VGA inputs (one with loopthrough) as well as composite and audio. There is a 16W audio system and the GT5500 supports 3D.
Optoma said that the unit will sell for $1,299.
