Optoma Focuses on Simple Installation

Optoma promises that its new DLP projector, the Proscene W515, ‘massively simplifies’ complicated AV installations.

Geometric adjustment is built in to the product; installers can use this feature to individually adjust each corner of the image, or enable projector stacking. For a multi-projector set up, brightness levels can be matched between units.

The projector features a wired remote control, as well as support for Crestron, AMX, Extron, Telnet and PJ-Link systems for LAN control. A 1.8x zoom lens, +/-30° vertical/horizontal keystone adjustment and 105% – 125% lens shift are built in.

Resolution is 1280 x 800, with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Brightness is 6,000 lumens, provided by a 365W lamp (2,500 – 3,000 hour lifetime). A 1.26 – 2.268:1 throw ratio means that a 24.7″ – 302.7″ image can be thrown from 1.3 – 8.2m.

DisplayPort, MHL-HDMI (x2), VGA, RS232, RJ45 and USB-B inputs are featured, as well as a 20W speaker. An identical model, the W515ST, is also available, with an HDBaseT input and two VGA ports.

The W515 measures 424 x 344 x 160mm and weighs 5.9kg. It and the W515ST are available now, for £1,585 ($2,475) and £1,665 ($2,600) ex VAT, respectively.
