What We Think
The cinema business is heading for an existential crisis as a provider of mass market content consumption. I can imagine Art and specialist cinemas (including PLF) surviving to provide cinema to those that really want it, but Covid has dramatically impacted routine viewing. After the failure of Tenet in the US and the relative success for Disney+ in the US, Hollywood is shifting fast to a ‘direct to consumer’ model. Without a mass cinema industry, the makers of the projectors will suffer and there is likely to be a real deceleration in the adoption of LED displays. (BR)
