Some of our long term readers may remember a project called ‘One Laptop per Child’, known as OLPC. We first wrote about it in October 2005 and wrote more than fifty articles until March 2014 when we had an article entitled “Is it Goodbye to OLPC?”. A hat tip to Dr. Jon Peddie for pointing us to an article that has an interesting history of the project, which early on had a very innovative display from Pixel Qi, established by Mary Lou Jepsen. She left and the company eventually folded in 2015. (and surfaced again at Google – Google X Wants to Marry TVs and Lego.
Digging around showed that Sol Computers in California still has some Pixel Qi displays.
