In an interview with TP Vision, Dutch website Nu.nl found hints of an OLED TV launch from the company. An OLED TV, with an LG Display panel, was seen during a tour of TP Vision’s innovation centre in Ghent. It will be released under the Philips brand.
Head of product planning Danny Tack told Nu.nl that TP Vision has been working on an OLED TV for a long time. There were three main challenges to face: brightness, colour range and uniformity. Lifetime was also a concern, but has been lengthened by using LG’s WRGB OLED technology. TP Vision is apparently solving the remaining challenges through image processing.
Tack hinted at a 2015 launch.
