Oculus Santa Cruz Scheduled for Release in 2019 Q1?

Six months after developers first reported they had received Oculus’ new standalone inside-out tracking VR headset, codenamed “Santa Cruz”, reports have surfaced indicating that the device is scheduled for public release during the first quarter of 2019.

Facebook declined to comment on the rumours but a company spokesperson said its forthcoming Oculus Connect 5 event in September will be “really exciting”. The company remains tight-lipped on hardware specifications and pricing information.

Additionally, the Oculus Go standalone headset’s local viewing feature, where users can share visuals from the headset to a connected smartphone, is working and scheduled for release to the public in the coming weeks.
