Digitimes Research reports that the top five notebook brand vendors in the world, saw their combined shipments rise by 20% in February compared to the previous month, and rise 22% compared to the previous 12 months.
The top three ODMs, experienced a rise in shipments of 10% compared to the previous month, and a rise of 30% compared to the previous 12 months. This was mainly due to increased demand but the Lunar New Year holidays in 2017 fell mainly in January this year, and this meant there were more working days in February.
HP suffered a 50% monthly decline in January, but in February shipments rose to over 500,000 units more than the shipments of the second largest supplier, Lenovo. Dell did not achieve a monthly shipment growth when compared to shipments in February in 2016, but its shipments still rose by a single-digit percentage from the January shipments.
Acer’s increased Chromebook shipments in February, and became the fourth-largest notebook vendor worldwide in the month, surpassing Asustek. Compal Electronics became the largest ODM notebook maker and Inventec the fourth largest in February, due to orders from HP.
