No more from Apple in 2022 – Gurman

What They Say

Bloomberg’s Apple-watcher, Mark Gurman has said that there will be no further new Apple products this year, despite previous rumours. He expects M2-based MacBook Pro models with 14″ and 16″ displays in the the first quarter of 2023 when macOS Ventura 13.3 and iOS 16.3 launch. Gurman quotes comments from Apple executives about revenues in Q4 to support his.

The rumoured new M2-based Mac Mini is likely to come at the same time.

Separately, there has been speculation about the next version of the iPhone SE which might arrive in the spring of 2024 and 9to5Mac quoted Ross Young of DSCC as saying that:

We hear Apple has not yet finalized its display choice on the SE4. It is believed to be considering 6.1? OLEDs from 2 suppliers as well as 5.7?-6.1? LCDs from 2 suppliers.

What We Think

Talking to a friend on my recent visit to the US, he pointed out that my thoughts of moving to the world of Mac for my next PC is unlikely to be the best deal and said that he is looking at a secondhand gaming PC as offering much better value for money. His view is that a really good GPU would bring video processing speeds that are closer to an M1-based system. (BR)
