NHK Enterprises (NEP) and NHK Media Technology showed an 8K VR ride at the recent SXSW event in Austin. The ride, which allowed a virtual visit to Tokyo, was developed with RecoChoku Labo and Wonder Vision Techno Labs. The experience did not need headsets and the imagery was on a 17′ x 11′ (5.2m x 3.3m) screen with 5.1 audio and special effects including ‘gusts of air’ as well as a pair of motion-enabled seats. The screen was Wonder Vision’s Sphere 5.2 visual system
The group is interested in talking to theme parks about the system.
