NHK Plans 8k in August

NHK’s Kashima Yoshiharu announced the changes.Japan has announced updates to its UltraHD plans at MIPTV in France. National broadcaster NHK intends to begin transmissions on the 1st August this year in Super-Hi Vision, aka 8k. A new body, a combination of the various UltraHD promotional groups called the Association for Promotion of Advanced Broadcasting Services (A-PAB), will handle UltraHD broadcasts. These will begin soon after NHK’s 8k programming.

It is important to note that – confusingly – NHK will no longer distinguish between UltraHD and 8k, simply referring to them both as Super-Hi Vision.
