Digitimes has reported back from the very first UHD Equipment Expo which took place at Tokyo Big Sight last week, with details of a range of 4K and 8K equipment including cameras, transmission and display equipment. In particular, the publication was impressed with the exhibition spaces from NHK and BOE.
BOE reportedly showcased a range of 8K displays in sizes ranging from 27″ up to 100″ alongside its 8K decoding equipment and cloud service platform. Meanwhile, NHK demonstrated its 300″ 8K theatre, which uses four 4K projectors to display content with an 8K resolution effect.
Analyst Comment
At ProLight & Sound in Frankfurt this week, Lang Academy had an 8K demonstration using high quality uncompressed video and a Sharp TV, which looked very impressive indeed and using ‘off the shelf’ hardware – although it was running ‘flat out’. (BR)
