Elo, a global supplier of touchscreen solutions, launched its new 9200 and 9300 series projected capacitive (PCAP) controllers, which are optimized for 10- to 22-inch and 24- to 32-inch touchscreens, respectively.
The PCAP controllers are powered by a combination of Elo’s new ASIC, the engine that enables the controllers’ unique performance, and state-of-the-art in-house algorithm development. Both controllers include a completely configurable architecture that offers great flexibility and performance for industrial- and commercial- grade touchscreen control. Elo’s industry-leading algorithms enable the controllers to address the unique needs of industrial and commercial touch applications. They handle contaminates, such as liquids (salt, saline and fresh water), in harsh environments and use mixed mode scanning and frequency hopping for challenging noise interference environments (EMI).
“Touchscreens are essential for today’s industrial and commercial system products and need to be able to perform under a variety of harsh conditions,” said Niklas Fallgren, VP, OEM business unit at Elo. “These new controllers offer high performance for industrial- and commercial-grade touchscreens, serving as a testament to the versatility of the products we make. Our customers come from a wide range of industries, so the ability to provide solutions that serve multiple functions and solve customers’ problems is critical.”
The 9200 and 9300 series controllers are designed for challenging environments requiring high EMI performance, liquid/contaminant rejection and functionality, or thick vandal-resistant cover glass up to 9mm. Key benefits include 10-point true multi-touch capabilities, fast and sensitive touch response, high accuracy and linearity, up to 144 channels configurable as drive or receive, and a report rate up to 200Hz. Additionally, with Elo’s new advanced tuning tools supporting challenging commercial applications, the 9200 and 9300 series PCAP controller hardware and firmware performance can be optimized for demanding applications far beyond the tuning available with off-the-shelf PCAP controllers.
Elo continues to invest in innovative PCAP touch technologies and manufacturing capabilities with the recent opening of a state-of-the-art facilityin Suzhou, China, which occupies a quarter of a million square feet and includes 155,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The company has invested heavily in high-quality automated equipment to maintain control of each step of the manufacturing process. Furthermore, all manufacturing processes follow ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and ISO-13485 standards, and employees undergo extensive training in preparing, handling and inspecting to ensure that each product meets or exceeds manufacturing standards.
To learn more, visit Elo at Display Week from May 23-25, 2017, booth #1229, for a live demonstration of Elo’s touchscreen solutions, including the new 9200 and 9300 series PCAP controllers. Live demos will include the new controllers performing in a mocked-up saltwater environment. Samples of the controllers are available immediately, with full production beginning in August 2017.
