Netflix Reveals That 70% of Its Viewers Are Watching on TV

Netflix says that 70% of all its viewers are watching its content on their TVs, as opposed to watching via computers, smartphones or tablets, even if they originally used those devices to sign up to the service.

This graphic, created by Netflix, illustrates the viewing journey of its customers by device, from initial sign-up through the first six months of membership. As you can see, a vast majority of users drift back to their TVs at some stage.

The share is different for different kinds of content and it seems that “kids TV” content has the highest share shown on TVs.

Analyst Comment

This flies in the face of past analyst predictions that smartphones, tablets and the like would eventually take a majority viewer share—as far as Netflix is concerned, the largest of all the screens, the TV, still reigns supreme. (AF)
