Netflix Debuts Interactive Storytelling

Netflix has released an interactive film entitled, Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, which is the company’s first story that lets the viewer decide how the story progresses and ends. Technological development has made new tools available to storytellers and Netflix believes that the time is now right to use these. This first interactive story is intended for children but Netflix invites parents to join in.

To watch and control the film, a smart TV, a streaming box, a game console or on an iPhone or iPad is required, besides needing the latest version of the Netflix app. Devices such as mobile Android, Apple TV, Chromecast, and web browsers are not yet supported.

Analyst Comment

Whether interactive storytelling will become a success is unclear, but the best indicator of success would be if Netflix continues to release new nteractive content. (BR)
