A Bavarian media company has live streamed its annual music festival in 360º video for the first time. This was made possible by the combined efforts of Keepixo, a provider of software head-end products for IPTV and OTT and Divitel, a systems integrator for video delivery. Three Nokia OZO cameras captured the event enabling it to be viewed in 360 degree video.
The Nokia OZO cameras use eight 2K x 2K video sensors to produce a full spherical output. The composite video is then encoded in UHD using Keepixo’s AL2000-UHD encoder, and then packaged in HLS. The outpit was a 360º stream which can be viewed on smartphones, tablets and desktop browsers.
The Keepixo AL2000-UHD platform is a 1U high device that encodes content into a H.264, or HEVC Main 10 profile with optional support for HDR. The platforms output can be either in TS or OTT formats. When used in OTT format, the AL2000-UHD can produce an output stream compatible with Apple HLS or MPEG-DASH.
