More financials for Q3 2020

What They Say

There were lots more quarterly results this week.

  • AUO reported sales up 15.3% on Q2, and up 4% on Q3 last year, with operating profit of $92.7 million, from a loss a year ago. Monitors, TVs and mobile were up in share while ‘Commercial and other’ panels were down.
  • Sony saw sales flat on its Q2 result for fiscal 2019, but with operating profit up 14%. No surprise that Sony Pictures was down, but gaming was up.
  • Lenovo saw revenues up 7% year on year to $14.5 billion, and income up 52% to $470 million. The PC group was up and so was the Mobile Business Group.
  • Eizo saw sales recovering overseas, but high demand in Japan. For the first half of its fiscal it was 7.8% down in revenues, but income was up 6.3%
  • Kopin reported a 55% increase in revenue, year on year, as well as strong quarterly growth. Defence was significantly up based on the display sub-assembly system for the FWS-I thermal weapon sight program and displays for the F-35 Fighter jet programme. Net loss was down from $6.6 million last year to $1.0 million.

What We Think

As we saw last week, results coming in are quite positive for the parts of the industry in mobile, TV and IT, while poor in cinema and digital signage. (BR)
