MicroTouch announced a new range of ‘Mach’ touch solutions from 15.6″ to 65″. The sets have boosted colour performance based on 8 bit panels and using optical bonding and with up to 40 touches. They have anti-glare panels and ultra-slim borders.
What We Think
Somehow, last year I missed that a touch firm, TES, bought the MicroTouch brand and some assets from 3M at the beginning of 2021, effectively getting out of the supply of touch systems and focusing just on materials and ip licensing. MicroTouch is a very long established brand in capacitive touch. Some 20+ years ago, I remember visiting the firm’s HQ in Methuen and was amazed at the low tech manufacturing process at the time. It was very manual and looked like ‘screen printing’. I’m sure 3M changed that over the decades! (BR)
