Meta Talks About the Next Generation of AR Glasses

Meta has been making AR hardware for quite some time now. They are in this market for an astounding two and a half years (based on the successful Kickstarter campaign closing) as an augmented reality headset maker. Meanwhile the firm has closed a more substantial funding of $23 million in its Series A round of funding. This does not compare with the likes of Oculus and Magic Leap, who are the current winners in the new technology hype cycle.

Now, Meta are pushing the newest version of their AR glasses through videos and interviews. Based on a new YouTube video, the new glasses are almost ready to be released by Meta. Meta had always a strong focus on gesture recognition for their device control. We have to assume that the next generation glasses will continue to carry this idea. They are showing the response of many people that have seen the next version of Meta glasses and of course they are all excited about the realism and functionality. Some of the shown people are investors to Meta, while others are technology writers and analysts. Looking forward to the new release expected for TED 2016, where Meta is giving a talk. – NH
