Meta’s VR headsets are going back onto the shelves in Germany after a hiatus when the platform was taken off the market when the German courts said that the firm was abusing its market position and Meta withdrew the products. The Cartel Office said that it would continue to monitor Meta’s actions.
It will take longer for the products to be available through Amazon.de or MediaMarkt/Saturn, but residents will be able to buy direct from meta.com.
What We Think
The issue was that Meta had insisted that users had a Facebook account. Now the firm has an arrangement to allow the use of a separate account. If you haven’t experienced the German concerns over privacy and security then it’s hard to get your head around how careful they are on these topics. (BR)
