MediaTek Cuts Shipment Target

Mediatek has revised its handset-IC shipment target for this year, from 450 million units to 400 million. The company has also cut its tablet-IC target by 10%, to 45 million units. Mediatek suffered a profit and revenue fall in Q2’15, and a longer inventory turnover period – 111 days, compared to 60 days in Q2’14. Company president Hsieh Ching-Chiang said that only modest (10% – 18%) QoQ growth is expected in Q3 revenues: they are expected to be between TWD51.7 billion ($1.63 billion) and TWD55.5 billion ($1.75 billion).
