Media Distillery said that Vodafone Portugal had selected its EPG Correction Distillery to improve the accuracy of the firm’s TV EPG. The system is said to use AI to correct the Vodafone EPG to take into account timing discrepancies that could cause the start of a programme to be missed on the firm’s IPTV/OTT service.
Using AI, EPG Correction Distillery automatically carries out real-time analysis of broadcasts across multiple channels and makes adjustments to coincide with actual start-times of TV programmes as they are aired.
EPG Correction Distillery will be demonstrated on the Media Distillery stand Hall 5.H42 at IBC 2022.
What We Think
It’s amazing what AI can do already and, as the song says, “You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!”. Software such as the Dall-E content creation system based on AI really amaze me and are going to transform creative industries in the same way that the internet has transformed transactional industries.
Getting the right times for the EPG with, I assume, recordings also being adjusted, is one of those things that will quickly be taken for granted. I’m reminded of a friend whose children were visiting older relatives and were amazed “What do you mean, you can’t pause the TV?”. These things become standard very quickly. (BR)
