LG has introduced several new products for the Korean market, which will also be launched in South America in Q2.
The 29″ 29V950 represents a move into the curved 21:9 space for LG’s AIO PCs. The curve is intended to block ambient light and provide a more immersive usage experience, while the 21:9 aspect ratio can be used to display multiple documents at once.
Files on the PC are accessible while out-and-about through LG’s Homedrive cloud service. A TV tuner enables the PC’s display to be used as a TV as well as a monitor.
An IPS panel, with 2560 x 1080 resolution, provides a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 14ms response time (5ms grey-to-grey) and 178° viewing angles. Brightness is 300cd/m².
A Broadwell CPU runs Windows 8.1. The CPU is a 2.2GHz Core i5 unit, with boost up to 2.7GHz. The 29V950 is fitted with up to 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD, as well as Nvidia Geforce 840M graphics.
The PC features HDMI (x2), USB 3.0, USB 2.0, RJ45 and RF terminals, as well as dual 7W speakers.
Next are two new notebooks with lightweight designs and narrow (4.4mm) bezels. The 14″ 14Z950 and 13.3″ 13Z940 weigh 980g, making the larger model the lightest 14″ laptop on the market, says LG. They are less than 14mm thick, with IPS panels (most notebooks use TN, so we applaud this move – TA) and Broadwell processors.
The 14Z950 boasts 10.5 hours of battery life, while the 13Z940’s is reduced to 8.5 hours.
Both laptops feature 1920 x 1080 resolution, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB/256GB SSD. They also have a ‘Reader Mode’, simulating the appearance of paper on-screen to minimise eye fatigue. Intel HD 4400 graphics are integrated. The notebooks use an edge-LED backlight and have 178° viewing angles. They can connect to other devices through Bluetooth 4.0, WiDi, WiFi, HDMI, USB 3.0 and micro-USB 2.0.
