Liberty Global’s Connect Box is now in more than 10 million homes across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. The company says the router has now been rolled out to more than half of its broadband customers in Europe.
The box, developed and designed in-house by Liberty Global engineers at its tech campus in Amsterdam, allows multiple devices to be connected at the same time and the box monitors the signal using smart software for continuous optimisation.
The Connect Box includes WiFi boosters, providing extra coverage for customers with larger homes, and the Connect App, designed to improve the user experience. More features are due to be added to the upgraded Connect Box platform in the coming months.
Analyst Comment
At IBC, I was impressed with the level of analytics available through STB and Wi-Fi systems such as the mess network from AirTies of Turkey. The technology can give service providers an incredible level of detail and can help them solve issues that often come out of the use and need for use of very old Wi-Fi which can cause limits on the speed of the overall network. Service providers need this level of detail, so that they can help users to get the most out of their networks and broadband connections. (BR)
