LG has told Pocket Lint that it will end plasma TV production this year – but still believes that there is a market for the technology.
According to Pocket Lint, LG said that the market for cheap, large-screen sets is still active, especially in South America. However, component makers will not supply the parts necessary to produce plasma TVs.

LG told journalists at a media briefing in Seoul last month that it was readying itself to leave the plasma market (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 35), but did not give a time frame.
Changhong would be the only PDP manufacturer left in the market – but (see Company News this week) even that might be ending soon. (TA)
