Retina iMacs Are on The Way, Claim Sources

According to 9to5Mac, Apple will launch a line of iMac AIO computers with high-resolution ‘retina’ displays later this year.

While the slim profile of the new iMacs will be the same as the 2012 model, there will be several differences internally. OS X Yosemite will also be launched this autumn and is expected to be the featured OS on the new models; it includes support for 6400 x 3600, 5760 x 3240 and 4096 x 2304 (all 16:9) resolutions. Earlier rumours claimed that Apple was working on 5k displays. The new DisplayPort 1.3 standard (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 37) supports this resolution, so it is a possibility.

As well as higher resolutions, the sources say that the new iMacs will feature faster processors and improved WiFi antennas.
