LG Pledges Transition to 100 Percent Renewable Energy by 2050

LG Electronics issued a release that set out that it would transition to using 100% renewable energy by 2050 after an early promise to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

The process will start in the US and will proceed region by region. A combination of solar panels, choosing suppliers of power that use renewables, using Renewable Energy Credit (REC) certificates and participating in the Green Premium program in Korea will be used to achieve the objective.

Currently LG is installing solar modules with a capacity of 3.2 MW on a manufacturing site in Noida, India, generating electricity to power LG’s administrative office as well.

A 30 year plan doesn’t look desperately aggressive, but the programme will start quite quickly according to the chart provided (below). BR)
