LG Has its Own Booth

Last year, LG had a booth at RDSE with a partner, Pioneer, but the company found that this inhibited conversations with other partners, so this year it decided to have its own booth. Most of the hardware on display was the same as ISE, although a couple of items were missing – the main one being the LED film technology that it showed at ISE and PTE. Although there was an area on the stand to show the technology, it had arrived in the UK only the day before and it was not possible to get it set up in time. One of the highlights of the booth at this show was a large outdoor totem display that has been developed by Espirit Digital, using LG displays, and designed to meet the requirements of the Westfield shopping malls in the US. The systems, which are available in indoor and outdoor versions, with appropriate displays (75XF3C outdoors and 75UH5 indoors). So far, the display, which are built in the UK by Espirit, have been ordered for 17 different Westfield Malls in the US. (Big Retail Roll-out in the US and Espirit Explains Westgate Project). Features of the totem include a proximity sensor, which can indicate if something is obstructing the display, or used to provide different information if someone is close. There is also a camera in the top for checking the area and analytics. The frame of the display has tricolour LEDs that can be dynamically re-coloured.
