LG Display announced that its research on OLEDoS for virtual reality has been selected as a Distinguished Paper of the Year by the Society for Information Display (SID) at Display Week 2024.
The research paper focuses on ultra-high brightness and ultra-high resolution OLEDoS for VR. OLEDoS, which stands for OLED on a silicon wafer substrate, is designed to enhance high-definition AR and VR experiences on a small scale. The research achieved a brightness of 10,000 nits, a 40% improvement over the existing standard, using new high-performance OLED elements and LG’s light extraction technology called Micro Lens Array (MLA).
At Display Week 2024, LG Display will present fifteen research papers, including their findings on OLEDoS. The company will also propose technologies to improve glasses-free 3D displays and performance measurement methods for stretchable displays. The company will also present research on optimizing production processes, including high-efficiency OLED design and AI-developed defect prediction systems.
