LG Display to Expand OLED Supply to Apple

What They Say

The Elec has said that LG Display is expanding its E6-1 and E6-2 lines to boost output by 25K/month additional substrates of LTPO (5K, then 10K in May 2021 and another 10K in June). The main reason is building the capacity to increase its shipments to Apple, the paper said and also represents a shift from LTPS to LTPO which will be used in Apple phones to be released next year.

What We Think

Clearly, LG Display is confident that it can get good yields from this technology. (BR)

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra already uses LTPO to support higher refresh rates.
