LG Display has signed an agreement to supply Sony with its flexible P-OLED displays for future iterations of Sony smartphones, according to Business Korea.
LG has supplied Sony with panels for its range of OLED TVs for some time. Recently, Sony doubled its OLED order with LG due to better-than-expected demand for its OLED TVs.
Apple is also reported to be in the final stages of talks with LG to supply the company with P-OLED panels. It’s been understood for some time that Apple is keen to diversify its OLED procurement away from its direct market rival, Samsung, who currently supplies the company with Super AMOLED screens for the iPhone X.
Meanwhile, LG is already manufacturing 6″ P-OLED screens for its own V30 smartphone, as well as Google’s Pixel 2 XL. The technology has experienced issues with burn-in and sub-par image quality, but performance is believed to be improving. (Google Investigating Pixel 2 XL OLED Burn-In Issues)
