We then moved to the mobile panels! Plastic OLEDs, used in the LG Electronics Flex phone, were being highlighted. There was a demonstration of a curved OLED with icons along the edge, like the Samsung Note Edge.
In the mobile area was a big presentation of displays for automotive applications. There was a 12.3″ 1920 x 720 (8:3 or 16:6) flexible cluster display that uses OLED technology and provides 100,000:1 contrast. Brightness is 600 cd/m2 and the radius can be as tight as 350mm. Of course, the auto industry looks ahead a long way and production for this panel is planned for 2018.
Nearer to market are a 21.5″ curved LCD and a 12.3″ panel with M+ subpixels. A 13.1″ 1280 x 1920 2:3 ratio display for centre console use was shown and intended for portrait use. Production is planned for Q1 2016.
