LG Display has published a new video pushing its development of flexible OLED display. The video is 5 min long and more of a marketing piece than a real interview.
The video shows an interview with Dr. Soo-young Yoon from LG Display and promises a look behind the curtains of LG’s new flexible OLED display. Unfortunately the video shows the company’s latest 18″ flexible OLED display, but is a little weak in explaining anything more technical.
Dr. Yoon mentions that the two most important developments are in materials and processes to make this flexible display technology successful. However, he does not go into more detail.
The most interesting news extracted from the video is that the company is aiming at larger display sizes in the 60″ range which, given LGD’s emphasis on TV with its OLED program, is not surprising. The company aims to sell commercial products with flexible OLED displays by 2017. This is in the very near future, which means that LG Display believes that most issues have been solved already.
