What They Say
TFTCentral reported that it has seen some information that suggests that LG Display may be developing a 27″ monitor panel based on WOLED and using a WRGB pixel structure. The panels would be QuadHD (2560 x 1440) at 240Hz with the potential to support HDR400 True Black.
The firm is also said to be developing the LM315WR4-SSA1 panel which is a 31.5″ IPS panel with 144Hz refresh and with DisplayHDR 1000 support despite the edge lit architecture. There a 31.5″ with 2560 x 1440 and 240Hz (HDR 600). The LM270WR8-SSE1 will have UltraHD with 144Hz and 99.5% of DCI-P3 with 1560 zones and support for HDR1000 (peak of 1250 cd/m²). There’s a new 49″ 5120 x 1440 panel with 3800R curvature and 144Hz refresh.
The blog also reported on IPS Black but, as we found, there were no details on what changes LGD has made to achieve the higher (2,000:1) contrast.
What We Think
If any of our readers has been able to dig out anything on what LGD is doing to achieve its IPS Black technology. It’s really unusual for a firm to be so coy in its revelations about its technology. (BR)
