LG has said that its next flagship smartphone, the V30 phablet. It will use a 6″ 18:9 plastic AMOLED with curved edges like the Samsung Edge and with 2880 x 1440 resolution. The colour performance will be 148% od sRGB and 108% of DCI P3. The bezels will be much smaller than the V20 and that has meant that the LG logo has moved to the other side.
Analyst Comment
LG has made a plastic display before, the G Flex2 (I remember seeing an LG executive hammering a desk with one to show its robustness!). It also had the G6 earlier this year which has an 18:9 display. We expect LG to release the V30 during IFA. It looks as though Samsung won’t have a press event during IFA, as it will be launching the Note 8 in New York later this month. (BR)
