LG Brings Curve to LCD

A new curved TV has been launched by LG – but with LCD technology, not OLED. The UC970 is available in EMEA now in 55″ (55UC970V) and 65″ (65UC970V) sizes.

The UC970 is supplied with LG’s Magic Remote and WebOS operating system. They feature passive 3D, HEVC decoding and multi-channel speakers. According to LG, the speakers simulate a seven-speaker surround sound set-up.

A direct-LED backlight, with local dimming, is used. The TV has UltraHD resolution and an IPS panel, providing a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178 deg viewing angles. Tuners for DVB-T, -T2, -C and -S2 are built in, as well as analogue and (after a software update) HbbTV.

Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Miracast, WiDi and Simplink connectivity are featured. Cable connections include HDMI (x4) (one with MHL), USB 2.0 (x2), USB 3.0, RS232, RJ45 and a CI+ slot.

The UC970 is available now, but a price could not be shared.
