LG advances smart TV platform business

What They Say

LG said that its webOS is now available on up to 200 partner brands including Seiki, Eko, Stream System, Konka, Aiwa and Hyundai – a ten-fold increase from when LG commenced licensing its webOS ecosystem in early 2021.

The firm also said that the first webOS Hub-powered OLED TVs from LG’s partner TV brands will be launching soon.

Over 120 million third-party devices in 150 countries are now powered by webOS, with the number set to grow with the availability of the new and improved webOS Hub.

What We Think

LG seems to be doing better with WebOS than I expected.  I did talk to one of the partners, Bomare, at the IFA event (TV Round-up from IFA 2022) Samsung also put out a release highlighting new partners for its Tizen platform (BR)
