Leyard/Planar have announced their intent to acquire visual display solution manufacturer Eyevis. Through this geographic expansion, the companies believe that they will be able to better serve customers in EMEA with combined marketing, sales, installation support and customer service. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to finalise in the second calendar quarter of 2018.
Analyst Comment
We reported on this rumour in our ProLight & Sound report as this rumour was around on the show floor (although we heard that the deal might be with Absen) (Eyevis Expecting to Announce a Deal). It made sense to us as Planar is already an ‘Eyevis-like’ systems integrator in the US. If the project of acquiring Planar by Leyard is going well, it would make sense to do the same in Europe. No value was placed on the deal, but given that Eyevis was in Chapter 11, it should not have been too much! (High Interest in Eyevis—Insolvency Proceedings Move Forward)
