Leak Reveals New Acer Gaming Monitor

Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, a new addition to Acer’s Predator gaming monitor series has been found on some of the company’s regional websites. Importantly, despite being a gaming model, it uses an IPS panel rather than TN (we have long argued that the display industry should move away from TN panels – TA).

The XB321HK features an IPS panel with UltraHD resolution, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178° viewing angles. The downside of IPS, of course, is the slower response times compared to TN, which is important for gamers; however, this panel provides the display with a competitive 4ms response time.

Like the earlier XB281HK (Big Plans for Nvidia’s G-Sync This Year), the XB321HK has Nvidia’s G-Sync technology built-in. G-Sync is aan anti-tearing technology that synchronises the refresh rate of the display and GPU. The monitor has a 60Hz refresh rate. DisplayPort is required for G-Sync to operate. In addition to DisplayPort, the unit has HDMI and USB 3.0 (x4) inputs.

Brightness is 350 cd/m², and the monitor has tilt, swivel and height adjustment capabilities. There is no official word on price or release date yet.
